Would you like really great soil for your garden? You may want to try worm composting, which will produce very rich soil for your garden. Here’s how to start your worm composting bucket.
You will need a five-gallon food-safe plastic bucket with a lid. Poke very small holes in the bottom of the bucket and in the lid. Then, place layers of leaf trash and wet strips of newspapers into your bucket. Then, of course, you will place your worms into your bucket, which you only need a few to get started. You can purchase worms online, or purchase them in a local store that sells worms for fishing, or you can simply dig for worms yourself, red worms tend to work best in a worm container. Next, you can feed them your vegetable or fruit scraps.
You will not want to feed your worms meats, oils, or dairy products. You may also want to stay from citrus fruits, which may attract fruit flies. Keep your worm bucket moist, dark, and in warm, but not hot, temperatures, and feed your worms regularly. In no time, you will be surprised how fast your worms will multiply and will break down the scraps into beautiful soil for your garden.
