Have you ever stopped to consider what the total value of all your appliances is? It might be a lot more than you think, but if you go look at what it would cost you to replace them all, you might all of a sudden become a little more concerned with the shape they are in. Fortunately, if you take good care of them, they will last a long time, and to help you on the way, here are a couple of things to keep in mind.

First, ventilation is very important for appliances. If there is no free flow of air around them, they could overheat which cuts their lifespan short. Most appliances will have air intakes that need to have clearance, if there are filters here, they might need to be cleaned or replaced frequently.

Another issue is the electrical cord. This sometimes gets stuck and pinched which could lead to it fraying or coming loose. Regularly check the cord for damage to ensure proper operation and to eliminate the risk of electrocution.
