If you’re worried about someone breaking and entering into your home, what can you do about it? Neighborhood watch maybe? Of course, while it’s not a bad idea, here are some simple things you can do in order to keep your house and your family safe.
An excellent thing you can do is have a guard dog, as they serve as great deterrents to thieves. Even if you live in a house or apartment where you may not be able to have a dog, you can leave ‘Beware of Dog’ signs hanging in your windows as a deterrent as well. Outsmarting a thief can be tricky, but most of the time thieves won’t risk getting caught with a dog sign in the window. Another deterrent can be having security camera signs hanging up around your home, even if none are installed.
Burglars also love the darkness, so having light’s installed on all four sides of your house will decrease the chance of them risking breaking in. Also, when you aren’t home, it may serve just as well to have a few lights on in the inside of the house to scare away potential burglars as well. The key is to think smartly and to use discernment when it comes to potential situations where someone could break in.
