Electricity in the home is something that most everyone views as essential. We all have a multitude of appliances, devices and lights that we rely on every day to live our lives, and just a few days without electricity could cause serious problems. Some homes, however, might have electricity that is not very reliable. It could be that they experience regular brown-outs, which are fluctuations in the power available, leading to dimming lights and sometimes causing some electronics to shut off or restart. Others have breakers tripping for no obvious reason.

The problem could lie with your power company, especially if you live in a rural area, or if there are major storms in the area, but it is also very possible that the reason could be your own electrical system.

Having an electrician take a look at your system can help identify possible causes. Sometimes experimenting with where appliances are plugged in can give you some clues as to the cause.
