Could you guess how much water the average American uses in a day? Most likely your guess was too low. The correct answer is 90 gallons of water. This is enough to fill up an average tub. With running water freely available in this country, you might not be too concerned with the amount of water you use. Unfortunately, the fresh water supply on the earth is a very finite resource, and in the not too distant future, it might not be as easy as now to have access to clean drinking water. Each of us could do our part to make sure we’re not wasteful with the water we have.
Where could you save water? The first thing you want to look at is your toilet. If it is old, it might use as much as 7 gallons per flush. Swapping it out, or at least replacing the flushing mechanism could make a huge difference. It can also help to get aerators on your faucets, so that they will not use as much water when running.
